How to Get Started

The first step to getting started at LaGuardia Workforce1 Career Center is to attend an “Orientation”, introduction session. Orientation is held daily Monday-Thursday. Sessions begin promptly at 9:00am. Please bring your resume, if you have one. If you don’t have a resume, we can help you make one.

After completing Orientation, you will have the option to register for our services. This means that you will work one-on-one with our staff to determine your needs and to help you find a good job. Customers interested in registering for services must provide certain documentation to verify eligibility to work. The documents that you will need to show are your Social Security card (or Social Security Benefit Documents or Notice of Social Security Number Assignment) and one form of identification listing your date of birth (Driver’s License or Passport or School Records/ID Card or Work Permit or Birth Certificate/Birth Record or Public Assistance/Food Stamps Records)

If you prefer not to register for services, you can work on your own in our Resource Room, using the Internet and other resources to find a job. Resource Room staff will be happy to help you to find online job boards, improve your resume, or compose a cover letter. In addition, our Resource Room has copy machines, printers, phones, and a FAX machine available for your use.

All customers, registered and unregistered, will receive a Workforce1 Swipe Card. Please bring this card with you anytime you visit the center to gain access to the Resource Room and other services.

Please call 718.609.2130 or view our events calendars here to get schedule updates, information on recruitment events, workshops, and holiday closings.
