Engineering Science

LaGuardia’s dual/joint AA/BE engineering program with the nationally recognized School of  Engineering at the City College of New York (CCNY) debuts in September 2005.

NSF Scholarships

LaGuardia strongly encourages eligible engineering majors to apply for National Science Foundation (NSF) scholarships. LaGuardia has been awarded a prestigious grant to support these scholarships for students who are pursuing Associate Degrees in computer science, engineering, mathematics & related fields.

Students can receive scholarships for up to $3,125 per year, depending upon their need and amount of funds available.

To be eligible, a student must:

  • be a United States citizen, or an alien admitted as a refugee, or a legal permanent resident;
  • be enrolled full-time in a computer science, engineering or math major.
  • demonstrate academic potential. LaGuardia freshmen who have never attended another college should have earned a B (or higher) grade point average in high school. Current LaGuardia students must have a 2.75 college GPA and at least 9 credits earned at LaGuardia.
  • demonstrate financial need and be eligible for Federal financial aid.

For more information, visit the Student Financial Services website.

Electrical Engineers plan, design and oversee the creation or installation of electrical and electronic items for commercial, scientific or military uses. Salaries begin at $46,000 and increase to $90,000+ with experience.

Mechanical Engineers plan and design equipment like machines, tools, and engines. They may also supervise its installation, operation, maintenance or repair. Salaries begin at $47,000 and grow to $86,000 with experience.

It may be possible for LaGuardia Engineering graduates to qualify for engineering technician positions before obtaining their Bachelor of Engineering. Salaries for these positions in New York City usually range from $25,000 - $43,000.
