LaGuardia offers 2 joint Associate/Bachelor’s degree programs in
Education in conjunction with Queens College in Flushing, NY.
The Liberal Arts/Childhood Education AA/BS program prepares students for the New York State Initial Certificate in Childhood Education,
Grades 1-6.
The Liberal Arts/Secondary Education AA/BA program is geared to students who want to become
middle, junior high and senior high school teachers. A third program, Education Associate: The Bilingual Child is currently closed to new students.

In the New York City public school system, new teachers earn a starting salary of $39,000; experienced teachers can earn upwards of $60,000*.
Depending on the school system, teachers can often augment their salary in a variety of ways, including working with students in extracurricular activities, earning a Master’s degree, or teaching summer school.
